The Interview in English
Arstorica – Hello Anna, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Could you tell us about your artistic background?
Anna Ugryumova – I am a self-taught artist. I have been painting professionally for over ten years, working not only on large canvases but also painting murals on walls.
In your paintings you give a lot of space to freedom, as if your brushes moved independently without any planning. Could you tell us a bit more about this?
I often paint spontaneously and intuitively, selecting not only colors but also materials in the moment. The idea itself is born during the process, so I frequently start without a fixed plan.
You paint with the oil on canvas technique. Are there any other painting techniques you would like to experiment with in your paintings?
I am passionate about oil on canvas, but I also work with acrylics and oil pastels.

Is emotion an important feature of your work?
Emotion is very important in my work because it influences the choice of colors and the balance within the painting. The emotional component helps bring life and harmony to each piece.
When you paint nature, what do you feel?
When I paint nature, I feel a sense of freedom. I like to bring that feeling into interior spaces, allowing the viewer to experience nature wherever the painting is displayed.
Some of your paintings are reminiscent of French Impressionism. Is that a source of inspiration for you? If so, could you explain why?
I am truly honored that some of my work reminds people of French Impressionism. It is indeed one of my favorite styles and a source of inspiration for me.
Could you tell us about your first solo exhibition?
I’m not particularly focused on exhibitions, so I don’t have a detailed story to share. My focus has mostly been on creating and sharing art directly with collectors and spaces.

Have you ever taken part in any international artistic projects?
I have not participated in international projects. Most of my work involves painting for hotels and private collectors.
Talking about your future art, do you have any new dreams you would like to make come true?
One of my dreams is to completely paint a hotel, covering the walls with my motifs and ideas.
